Good for our people

Good for our people

We'd be nothing without our people.

That's why we're committed to important things like health and safety, wellbeing and career development. KP prides itself on being a good place to work and we aim to help our teams to develop, stay safe and healthy and progress their careers the way they want to.

A great place to work

Through our graduate and apprenticeship schemes, we work hard to bring the best talent to our business and nurture success.  Comprehensive and ongoing training and career development helps our KP colleagues to grow their careers and our business to maintain its competitive edge.

Health and safety

Wellbeing matters, so we fight the stigma and stress that can hold people back and provide a comprehensive Employee Health and Safety programme.  We are actively involved in initiatives such as the 'Time to Change' pledge to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues and now have 13 trained mental health first aiders.  We are also taking part in Britain's Healthiest Workplace - the UK's most comprehensive workplace wellness study.

  • We've had our central health and safety management system certified
  • We've signed the Food & Drink Federation (FDF)'s Occupational Health and Safety Pledge and we share our business best practice with the FDF Occupational Health and Safety Forum.
  • We had our lowest-ever Accident Frequency Rate in 2017

As well as striving for optimum safety in the workplace, we also aim to support KP colleagues in leading healthy and fulfilling lifestyles beyond work..

  • We run health and wellbeing campaigns with our colleagues throughout the year, focusing on issues such as mental health, diet and exercise, blood pressure and heart health
  • We have worked across the organisation to promote awareness and support for colleagues struggling with mental health conditions. We have trained 60 mental health first aiders and are planning more training in 2018.
  • We’ve taken part in Britain’s Healthiest Workplace – the UK’s most comprehensive workplace wellness study – for the past two years to help shape our policies and processes around our employee’s health and wellbeing

Communicating our values

We believe a well-informed team is also a well-motivated team. Our aim is to communicate clearly and honestly with our people, fostering an open, productive culture and maintaining mutual trust in the workplace.  Our evolving Values & Behaviours programme touches the working lives of all KP colleagues; it guides our culture and makes sure we're a great company to work for.
