We’ve signed up to the C-19 Business Pledge

We’ve signed up to the C-19 Business Pledge

At KP Snacks we are working in partnership with our customers to continue to supply the nation with the snacks they love at a time of increased demand, whilst keeping our colleagues safe and supporting our communities. We’ve signed the C-19 Business Pledge as it echoes our commitment to be a responsible business. The pledge focuses on how businesses are supporting their colleagues, customers and communities during this difficult time. Here’s how we’re doing this at KP:

GOOD FOR OUR PEOPLE

How we’re supporting our colleagues during Covid19

  • This COVID risk assessment statement outlines how we are ensuring our manufacturing sites are CovidSecure and keeping our colleagues safe and well
  • We’re proactively communicating with all our colleagues, answering questions and helping them stay safe and physically and mentally well. We ran a survey to check how people were managing and the feedback was used in local actions. Our network of over 140 mental health first aiders have been helping colleagues across our sites and functions
  • We have been working together with our trade union representatives, GMB, Usdaw and Unite, since the very beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic on important issues around employee safety, working conditions, communications and maintaining supply
  • We have given an additional recognition bonus to colleagues who have been consistently coming to work at our manufacturing sites during March and April. KP’s colleagues have had a fantastic attitude throughout this difficult time and are all working together to support each other and keep spirits up
  • We have a free, confidential, 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme and also regularly signpost our colleagues to our industry charity GroceryAid’s services, to help them should they need emotional or financial support

GOOD FOR OUR CUSTOMERS

How we’re supporting our customers during Covid19

We take pride in our partnerships with our customers and this focus has continued throughout the pandemic. Our approach is as follows:

  • We listen carefully to what our customers want and need, work hard to be accessible and flexible, and respond quickly to them
  • We have implemented a weekly cross-functional planning meeting to ensure we can react quickly and effectively to a continually changing environment
  • Our teams are staying connected with our customers to share information and insights to ensure continuity of supply – including daily reporting and stock management
  • We provide our customers with insight into how Covid-19 is affecting the crisps, snacks and nuts category and their shoppers
  • We are working in partnership with our customers in the hospitality, convenience and impulse sectors to maintain our support and help them emerge from this challenging period

GOOD FOR OUR COMMUNITIES

How we’re supporting communities during Covid19

Over the last couple of months, our colleagues across the business have been helping in their local communities through product donations to NHS organisations, the elderly and vulnerable. Excess stock has also been delivered to FareShare – the UK’s largest charity fighting hunger and food waste.

  • We are supporting food banks across the country with additional products through our partnership with Fareshare
  • We have contributed to the food hampers being sent to vulnerable people identified by the UK government via food delivery project ‘Scoff Meals’ for the elderly and vulnerable, delivered to their door
  • Our manufacturing colleagues have also taken personal ownership by working together to donate snacks to the local community including NHS 111 and 999 teams
  • Our Ashby based Consumer Services team has been managing special requests from parents with autistic children, and have so far helped over 30 families dealing with availability issues of their favourite snacks – many of whom rely on KP to make sure their children eat
  • We’ve diverted our weekly Head Office fruit deliveries to healthcare workers in the NHS. Fruitful Office has donated over 140,000 fruit portions in the last month
